WeKnowTheHOF: Snoop Inducts The Late, Great Tupac

April 2, 2017

How does one legend honor another: how about inducting the other into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame? In this case, our favorite Dogg, Snoop that is, will be inducting his old pal, the late, Tupac Shakur on April 7th at the Barclays Center in New York City, for a night that is sure to be star-studded, and well represented by many classic West Coast rappers to pay their respects to a man who paved the way, in the hip-hop community; but even more importantly, as an artist.

It’s no surprise that Tupac’s life, while tragically cut short, was so deserving of a Hall of Fame induction. When you take a step back and admire the artistry of Tupac, you see a career that not only included some of the most beloved songs of all time, but also an impressive collection of his poetry, his incredible performances in several films that included classics, Juice, Poetic Justice, Above The Rim and more! I mean, the guy was a natural, you just can’t teach this:

Uhhhhhhh, I’m not just typing those “h’s” for comedic purposes, my hands are just shaking in fear as I type this! You have to respect someone so multitalented, who so clearly had found his voice as an entertainer of the masses, and for his success and admiration to culminate in an induction ceremony delivered by someone as prolific, and so well-respected, I have to think that we’re in for quite the emotional rollercoaster, come April 7th. Thankfully viewers will also be treated to incredible performances by Alicia Keys, Mary Chapin Carter, Lenny Kravitz, the Indigo Girls and many more, so we’ll have plenty of time to wipe our eyes and get back to the toe-tappin’ feel the show should have!

While I’m sure it’s no coincidence that in the same year as Tupac’s induction, we are also set to finally get his biopic, All Eyez On Me, you can’t help but smile to see 2017 quietly become the year of ‘Pac!

Uhhhhhh the chills are back! Dude, when they make my biopic (ohhh it’ll happen, folks) I hope they scour the world to find a look-a-like as close as the actor playing Tupac (Demetrius Shipp Jr.) is to the real Mr. Shakur. The rest of the 2017 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame includes a few nobodies like, Joan Baez, Yes, Journey, Pearl Jam, ELO and legendary producer, Nile Rodgers. Like I said; absolute civilians here, being honored on the night of April 7th.

At the end of the day, we can’t wait for the ceremony, to see an artist so influential to many of our favorite artists today, receive such a distinguished honor that only the likes of greats such as, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Billie Holiday, The Eagles and other legends have received. We’ve universally accepted Tupac’s legacy as “legendary,” for years now, it’s just that come April 7th, we’ll be able to have it in writing, forever.

Don’t forget to tweet us @WeKnowTheDJ and let us know who you’re most excited to see be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
