Ariana Grande and John Legend Reveal Magical Beauty and the Beast Music Video

March 9, 2017

A tale as old as time, and a music video as new as can be.

Last month, Ariana Grande and John Legend blessed the world with a beautiful new take on the well-known Beauty and the Beast theme song. The pair, both known for their insane vocal abilities, really tell the love story through song and invite everyone to watch. Their duet follows many earlier recordings of the song, such as the original by Angela Lansbury and others by  Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.

The official soundtrack for the film is set to be released on March 17, along with the movie. So, for now, we only have this one song…but it’s certainly more than enough to keep us entertained and feeling magical.

The accompanying music video aired for the first time on Freeform over the weekend and appeared on Vevo soon after. Now, the video, directed by Dave Meyers, who has received many awards and much recognition for his earlier work with other artists, has racked up over 10 million views. People are buzzing even more over the soon-to-be-released movie, proving the video was released at a perfect time.

The “Beauty and the Beast” music video begins with Ariana Grande standing within a huge castle and looking into a mirror. She and the mirror are circled by magical sparks before it pans out to reveal her large, red dress. Grande, with straight hair and a glow to her skin, plays the princess role very well, looking stunning as she walks throughout the castle and sings along to the track. Soon, she is joined by a group of dancers, also dressed in red, who surround her until she is covered by a rose (alluding to the significance the rose had in the original story and film and is sure to have in the new adaptation).

As it cues to John Legend, viewers find him seated at a piano, playing along as he also begins to sing his part of the song. Emma Watson, starring as Disney’s new Belle in her princess-like, stunning yellow ballgown, twirls around with Dan Steven, who plays her beastly love interest. The pair look extremely elegant as they dance.

Yes, I just decrsibed a two-horned beast as elegant.

The music video captures the awe-inspiring ballroom scene and makes it seem as if they are dancing along to the beautiful vocals of Grande and Legend. In a way, you can feel the love between the pair as they embrace each other.

Scenes from the movie begin to flash by, giving an inside look at what to expect when it actually hits theaters next week. The iconic Beauty and the Beast dinnerware is featured with a teacup and candle moving around and having faces, for that matter.

Don’t forget to get your tickets to see ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in theaters everywhere March 17. It’s sure to be a movie you cannot miss.
