Drake Honors Houston at HAW

June 20, 2014

In honour of Houston Appreciation Weekend our favourite Canadian MC performed at Warehouse Live. Instead of traditionally selling tickets publicly, they were given to volunteers of RockCorp Global. The line was a mile long outside the venue as some people in the crowd said they’d been waiting hours before doors were open at 9AM on the Friday.

Crediting Houston with helping him launch his career, Drake put the most effort into the performance even bringing some of H-Towns finest Slim Thug, Lil Keke and Yungstar. Among the hometown stars, Drizzy brought out Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Tinashe.

Hitting the stage with “Draft Day” and “We Made It” Drake went back to some hits off Thank Me Later with “Karaoke” and “Miss Me.” Travi$ Scott joined him on stage for “Upper Echelon” as well as his remix to “2 On” with Tinashe and OB OBrien. Drake brought out the West Coast flavour with YG to “Who Do You Love?”

Perhaps the most amped the crowd got was Big Sean’s entrance to his verse on “All Me,” roaring loud for the Detroit rapper.

“This guy right here has done so much for me over the course of my life,” Drake said of Big. “If he needs me to perform at a 3 year olds birthday for nine hours I’ll do that shit. I’ll fly anywhere in the world for this ni**a, I’ll do anything for this ni**a.”

Wiz and Drake smoked together for the first time on stage to “We Dem Boyz” as Drake told the crowd, “I’ve never done this before during a show” as he pugged Wiz’ joint.

The show continued with favourites like “Worst Behaviour” and “0 to 100” but “November 18th” getting the biggest response.

Were you able to catch Drake’s performance in Houston? Are you planning on attending any of his upcoming US shows co-headlining with Lil Wayne? Tweet us at @weknowthedj and let us know!
