By now I am sure you know that WeKnowTheDj is all about exclusives, right? Well, several months ago I gave you all one featuring up and coming UK singer/songwriter – Olivia Louise.  In my exclusive interview with the darling Olivia, I got the latest details on her writing process, inspiration, and her EP which should be released very, very soon ;).  And, in case you missed the interview you can check it out here: http://weknowthedj.com/2014/03/weknowthedj-exclusive-interview-olivia-louise/

Keeping in touch with Olivia continues to be rewarding. As she is not only a sweetheart, but she personally sent me her new single; ‘Mourning’ last week. The song, written by Olivia and produced by Gautier is slow and soulful, capturing my attention immediately.

The song tells the tale that men and women alike despise and grow increasingly tired of… Being someones one night stand. The song is the story told by Olivia, of a woman who is heartbroken by the fact that her one night stand, of whom she has become increasingly attached to, has disappeared upon her awakening.  The lyrics depicting the act perfectly:

“I’m afraid that in the morning,

in the morning.

I’ll be mourning,

mourning…”

Paired with the beat of the song is the sultry sound of Olivia’s voice, you can almost feel her pain. Almost like you are in the situation of waking up to an empty bed after your partner is gone…. Mourning the absence.

More of an emotional feel, this song pulls at your heart strings as you tend to feel sorry for the woman in the story. This song leaves you feeling raw and open as you truly understand the meaning behind it, or as some people might even be able to relate to the tale.

If you would like to listen to Olivias new single you can check it out on her SoundCloud here:  https://soundcloud.com/gautierfage/mourning-ft-olivia-louise

While you’re there, make sure to check out one of Olivia’s many songs! (Skin Deep is still my favorite, so make sure to give that one a listen! )
