Iggy, Ari, Miley, Katy, and 5SOS Take The Stage At The BBMA’s

May 23, 2014

billboard-300x200Award shows come and go but the Billboard Music Awards are always expected to bring an unforgettable night. The performances last weekend ranged from Shakira to Imagine Dragons but some of the most memorable acts of the night included Iggy Azalea, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and 5SOS.

As we all know, Iggy and Ari have been topping the charts with their hit “Problem,” Ariana’s first single off her new album. Iggy Azalea has been in the spotlight lately thanks to her radio smash, “Fancy,” and recently dropped album,The New Classic. Iggy and Charlie XCX worked it on stage to “Fancy” while Ariana was prepping backstage for her BBMA début. Once the plaid skirted girls fled the stage, Ari came out in her signature black and white ensemble and belted those lyrics as she always does. The audience went wild when Iggy reappeared to finish off the song with Grande.

Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus both got their chance on stage at this year’s BBMAs. The recent controversy over Katy taking Lady Gaga’s spot was only heightened when Perry came out looking colorful as ever to sing a song off her album, “Birthday.” In a hot pink outfit, green pigtails, and a clan of dancers alongside her,  Katy looked like she was having a blast on stage singing her heart out along with the crowd. On another note, Miley Cyrus, accompanied by the Flaming Lips, did a small tribute to The Beatles by covering “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” Bare feet and a gold, sparkly, giant, costume donned Miley as she filled the song with passion, doing The Beatles justice with her incredible vocals.

Lastly, Five Seconds of Summer, better known as 5SOS, performed their latest hit, “She Looks So Perfect.” Though things had a rocky start with Kendall Jenner almost introducing One Direction instead, 5SOS completely recovered from the previous mishap. If you’re not a fan of these four boys because you’ve heard they’re a “boy band,” I suggest rethinking. Luke, Calum, Michael, and Ashton create a real band with an awesome sound and some serious talent.

Let us know what you hope to see from these artists next and tell us how much you loved this years BBMA performances @weknowthedj!
