When you put Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar in a room together and tell them to create something for our listening pleasure, you can undoubtedly ignore any speculation of whether or not the song will be a hit and can simply expect guaranteed greatness. HOWEVER, when you open that door to the already immaculate setting and add arguably, the best producer in the world, Pharrell Williams into the mix, you’ve created an entirely new monster.

The three artists teamed up to deliver a new single for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which releases April 22nd. The movie itself, doesn’t hit theaters until May 2nd, but what better way to get us more excited for the movie, than releasing what’s sure to be one of, if not the strongest tracks on the soundtrack. “It’s On Again” has that Get Lucky feel to it, while slightly darker, almost as if it picks up right where ‘Get Lucky’ ends; the difference being Kendrick’s loudly energized verse delivered at the beginning of the song, comparable to his delivery on the Radioactive (Remix). I don’t blame Kendrick or Pharrell for sticking to their formula for what has been proven to work exceedingly well for both of them in the past. I can only imagine the light bulbs going off in Pharrell’s head after finishing the instrumental for the track, knowing instantly that Alicia Keys’ vocals would blend flawlessly into the smooth, easygoing melody. The song would honestly would sound just as great with Alicia Keys as the sole vocalist, but you’re not not going to let Kendrick Lamar do his thing before getting to the heart of the song.

I’m not even the biggest Spiderman fan, but if they play this jam while he’s swinging between buildings and saving old ladies from evil villains, you’ve got my attention! Aside from the song itself, Pharrell will once again be assisting world-renowned composer, Hans Zimmer (responsible for the memorable scores of: Inception, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Despicable Me and so much more) with the score for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as well. Make sure to swing over to theaters (corny, I know) on May 2nd to catch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in theaters nationwide. Also, tweet us @weknowthedj to let us know how you liked “It’s On Again”. Even if you aren’t into Spiderman, this song’s sure to usher in your weekend with a bang!
