To say a song came out in 2004 is nothing, but to say it came out ten years ago is a completely different story! Thinking back on all of the good music that was released a decade ago is mind-blowing! Beyoncé, Britney, Kelly, the list could go on and on. With that being said, I am going to tell you about songs that we all know and love, but can’t believe are ten years old!

In order of release dates, the first song on the list is “Toxic” by Britney Spears. This pop/electric song was released January 13,2004. The single was the 4th song on her solo album “In the Zone” and peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 list at number 9! With high-pitched tones and a fast pace, this song was the perfect clubbing and dance song. The video to accompany the song in fact included several dance numbers by Britney. The smash won Britney her very first Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording and was named the Best Dance Song of the Decade by Rolling Stone. The video in this song stars Britney as someone in search of a green tube of liquid. We see her many different places in search of the tube. Upon finding it, we see Britney poisoning her unfaithful boyfriend. Like a short film, this song captures your attention and holds it the entire time. If you for some reason have not seen it, you can check it out here:

Song number two was released March 14,2004 and is by queen Bey herself. “Naughty Girl” by Beyoncé was the fourth single off of her first studio album “Dangerously in Love”. The single was influenced by reggae, dance hall, and Arabic music, which is where it got its unique sound. This song hit number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, and it was the fourth consecutive single to break the top 5 by Beyoncé. Doing so, the song was Certified Gold by the American Trade Associations of Record Producers. This steamy video features everything from Beyoncé naughty dancing to Usher. It showed Beyoncés wide range of talents and is amazingly choreographed. You can check out the video here if you have not already seen it:

The third song was released November 16,2004 by American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. The pop hit “Since U Been Gone” was released from her second album “Breakaway”. This song was an uptempo, pop rock, powerhouse song that described a women and her feeling of freedom after escaping a terrible relationship. Considered the highlight of the album it: reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, was certified platinum, won Kelly a Grammy at the 48th Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and won her two MTV Music Awards; one for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video. Mixing a live performance with Kelly cleaning her apartment of her boyfriends things, the video offers female empowerment and hope. This is actually one of my favorite songs and videos! You can see the video here!

The final decade old song was released December 5,2004. The group Maroon 5 released the single “Sunday Morning” as the fourth single from their debut album “Songs About Jane” Which also contained hits like “This Love” and “She Will be Loved“. With its Jazz-Pop sound, the song was featured on soundtracks for films like “Something’s Gotta Give” and “Love Actually”. The song only reached number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, but the album still proves to be one for their best (in my opinion at least). The video was filmed at Abbey Roads Studio in London and is very simple. Starting off as karaoke (bad karaoke, very bad lol) there are numerous people singing the track, when finally Maroon 5 takes over and shows us just what they’ve got. You can see the video here:

These are just a few of the videos I was shocked were already ten years old! In case you’re curious (or just want to feel old) you can check out a compete list here:
