Since early 2013, the app known as Vine has been taking over social media by storm. The app allows for its users to create 7 second long videos and it just so happens that singers have been using the app to showcase their talent. One individual in particular named Shawn Mendes has really taken his career to a new level with his voice and the various covers he features on his Vine profile.

Shawn Mendes is a 15-year-old student and singer from Pickering, Ontario, Canada. His vine profile currently has 1.7 million plus followers and he currently has 211 posts. From what I can tell, Shawn’s voice reminds me of a mix between Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran. He has a tone to his voice that makes girls go crazy and a face that makes them weak in the knees. Just recently, Shawn made a YouTube channel where he makes full covers. His most viewed video is his cover “Say Something” by A Great Big World and “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood is second most viewed. Both of these covers have reached over 1 million views on YouTube and he has almost reached 350,000 subscribers. Although Shawn created his YouTube account in January of 2011, he began to get more active 3 months ago when he posted his “Say Something” cover.

Check out Shawn’s most popular cover to “Say Something” below:

Due to making it big on Vine, Mendes has made an abundance of friends due to his popularity on the app. Popular users are known as “Viners” and some of these people have millions of followers just like Shawn. Some of his closet friends from Vine include Nash Grier, Cameron Dallas, and Jack and Jack. If you didn’t already know, the Magcon tour features online entertainers, which is a meet-and-greet convention tour. It is basically like a smaller show where you can watch your favorite’s on stage being silly and of course Shawn sings for everyone! You can catch Shawn at some of the Magcon Tour shows with Cameron, Nash, and the Jack’s as well as the rest of their Vine gang.

Considering Shawn has gotten as big as he has in under a year, making a name for himself in the music industry should not be too hard for him if he continues what he’s doing. Vine has changed many artists’ lives and this is only the first step in a long career and journey for Shawn.

You can follow Shawn on Vine, twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Keek just by searching his name. Be sure to Catch Shawn on the Magcon tour in a city near you!
