SXSW 2014 Music Festival Lineup Revealed!

February 13, 2014

In it’s 27th year, South by Southwest Festival is returning to Austin, Texas March 7th through 16th. There has been much anticipation surrounding this year’s lineup due to the recent roster releases of several festivals happening this summer; however, this announcement didn’t fail to please!

The awesome thing about SXSW is that no one performer is listed as the “headliner,” which truly makes the festival an enjoyable and unique experience for all attendees. That being said, there are definitely some larger and more well-known acts that seem to jump off of the page, including: Chance The Rapper, who is coming off of a HUGE year, following the release of his mixtape Acid Rap that is very deserving of all of the praise that it received. TDE members, ScHoolboy Q and Ab-Soul will also be performing, as well as Future, Isaiah Rashad, Tech N9ne, Mobb Deep, and Action Bronson. Fans of the 90’s cult classic film Home Alone, be sure to check out Kevin’s…I mean Macaulay Culkin’s Velvet Underground cover band, The Pizza Underground.

The Los Lonely Boys were also recently announced as performers for the festival, as well as rock artist Kurt Vile and popular house DJ and producer 3lau, guaranteed to make you put your hands in the air! Other standouts of the festival include DJ A-Trak, Alvin Risk, Yo Gotti and Ingrid Michaelson. I was very excited to see one of my favorite upcoming groups out of Boston, Aer as part of the lineup, who I PROMISE, will make you a fan, if you aren’t already familiar with their hits, such as:

There are several other upcoming indie bands and performers on the list that are sure to move the crowds throughout the entire course of the festival. All acts can be found HERE.

South by Southwest is notorious for waiting until the last minute to announce their chart-topping artists set to perform, which tends to bring even more excitement to the festival. It’s also important to mention that while I only covered the musical guests that will be in attendance, SXSW includes early screenings and premieres for movies that have yet to be released worldwide, various speakers and comedians, information sessions, art shows and more. The festival is primarily intended to act as a convention to promote artists, performers, and filmmakers, and to also provide information on the newest startups. There is something for everyone at the South by Southwest festival, which is also known as the launching pad for several musicians’ careers and businesses. So go ahead and throw this on top of your “To-do” list, because let’s face it…would you rather witness the rise of the next superstar’s career or would you rather go to Arizona and stare at some boring canyons that have nothing “Grand” about them. So take a Chance on SXSW, I’m confident that you won’t regret it!

Be sure to tweet us @weknowthedj to let us know if you plan on heading out to Austin for SXSW, or just let us know what you think about this year’s lineup in general!
