Big Sean Digs His Own Grave In New Video! Watch Here:

February 5, 2014

Big Sean makes a case for why you shouldn’t get out of bed in the middle of the night in the Ellis Bahl-directed video of his slow jam “Ashley” off Hall Of Fame.

As he lays down next to his girl in bed, for whatever reason, his alarm goes off and prompts him to get out of bed and head to his car. This is where he encounters a robber trying to (what it seems like) get to his car.

After putting up a fight for his life, an accomplice appears making it apparent the scheme involves his ex-girlfriend (Ashley) with her new beau. After being banged up multiple times, a bloodied-up Sean wakes up in the back of their truck to witness their sex. A quick sedation by the ex and he’s out cold once again, until he’s woken up tied up to a chair in a motel room, to see the kidnappers in a coke-filled sex session.

The song being about his real-life ex-girlfriend, Ashley, leaves us hoping this cinematic masterpiece was not autobiographical.

Regardless the video continues with more violent theatrics with Sean’s escape being nearly successful. Finding an opportunity where ex’s boy is not there, Sean unties himself from his captivity in the bathtub. He finds himself a baseball bat and beats the girl, before making a run for it.

Miguel’s subtle role in this track remains in the vocals as a performance clip was not added to the video, in fact we don’t even get Sean performing either since he stays in character throughout the 4+ minutes.

Nearing the end while he’s on the run, the man finds him on the street and drags him into the desert. As he stands over him with the threat of a gun to his head, he digs a grave, presumably for himself. The video cuts into darkness with a single shot to be heard, killing Sean. We have a feeling he’ll make it out though.

Produced by DJ Mano, “Ashley” is one of the more emotional songs off his sophomore album Hall Of Fame. The album peaked at No. 3 on Billboard 200 after its August release. “Ashley” is his most recent single off the album after “Guap,” “Fire,” “Switch It Up” and “Beware” which features Lil Wayne and Jhene Aiko.
