“Haaaaaaaaaanh”. Now that we’ve gotten that squared away, I can guarantee you two things: 1.) You just tried to sound that out…and, probably more than once. 2.) Now that you’ve attempted to say it, you’re at least a little bit curious about what it means. Well, unfortunately I don’t have that answer for you, but I can say that you’ve definitely already heard it several times if you’ve ever listened to a song by French Montana. The Moroccan artist hailing from the South Bronx has released nothing but hit records over the last few years, most notably featured tracks alongside popular Miami natives, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, and MMG artists, Wale and Meek Mill. His most popular records to date include, “Pop That,” “Shot Caller,” and he has recently appeared on the radio smash “Loyalty” alongside Chris Brown and Lil’ Wayne, which has lately been garnering more and more attention.

Coming off of a very successful New Years day release of his Coke Boys 4 mixtape, the fourth installment to his Coke Boys series, Montana decided to release the latest video effort for the single “Paranoid,” featuring Johnny May Cash, off of his début album, Excuse My French. The video, directed by Eif Rivera, accurately depicts the sense of paranoia that Montana feels about his enemies approaching him, as we see in the opening scene by heavily armed (and masked) assailants leaving their vehicles and firing several rounds at the rapper and his entourage. The catchy chorus repeatedly echoes Montana’s sentiments saying, “I be so (I be so) paranoid” throughout the entire video as the rapper ironically seems to be quite the opposite, flaunting all of his diamond studded jewelry in the cameras surrounded by his goons, daring his enemies to approach him. The flashing neon strobe lights and smoke are set perfectly in synch with the hard-hitting bass filled chorus, definitely intending to be blasted on speakers that will surely wake the neighbors!
