Check out Lea Michele’s Newest Track & Video For “Cannonball”

January 20, 2014

Taking 2014 as her own, Lea Michele has so many projects in the works that she’s got something new releasing on the weekly! With anticipation to the release of her album Louder on March 4th, she has released singles “Battlefield”, “Cannonball” and her most recent title track, “Louder”.

“Come out of the shadow/step into the light” sings Michele in this soft yet upbeat track. The words have a strong meaning behind them that’ll motivate but the pop-beat in the back can leave you nodding your head.

While talking to Billboard about the release, Lea told them, “It’s a song that, no matter what, I can play in my car with the windows down,” she says of “Louder,” which was written by Colin Munroe, Jaden Michaels and Anne Preven. “But at the same time, I feel like it shows off my voice as a singer, which is really important to me, because that’s what I do. I want to make sure that every song on my record is fun and enjoyable, but also, you hear my voice in them.”

Before her days on and Glee and even further back before a young Lea Michele stepped onto the Broadway stage, she dreamed of releasing her own album as she idolized the likes of Queen, among many other of her favourites.

Shortly after her previous single “Cannonball” was released, Lea shot the video and since its debut late last week, it has earned over 3 million YouTube views.

In a dark abandoned home is where the clip begins with a gloomy Lea leaning over and singing. As the words stretch on about letting go and being free, the visuals do just the same. As light starts coming into the dark home, we see a bright-eyed Lea rise up to enforce her words.

Nearing the end, the backdrop is a mix of a rainbow of colours with Lea dressed in all white and the sad looks wiped off her face!

Fans have been anticipating this album release since back in Fall of 2012 when Lea starting recording. If you haven’t already, pre-order the album and have a listen to the entirety on March 4th! (
