It’s that time of year again… Award season! The 86th Annual Academy Awards hits the stage on March 2nd at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA. World famous talk show host hosts this year’s show; Ellen DeGeneres is going to be a special one. The nominees are very much deserving of an award and a few have waited  for their turn to pick up an Oscar.

Some of the actors nominated are featured in some of the best films of the year including, The Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Her, and Despicable Me 2 just to name a few. Some of the much deserving actors nominated include, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, Jonah Hill, Julia Roberts and many, many more!

If you didn’t already know, Leonardo DiCaprio is 39 years old and Oscar-less. The talented actor has been a main lead in some of the best films of all time including The Titanic, The Great Gatsby, Django Unchained and now The Wolf of Wall Street and has yet to receive an Oscar for his achievements. Well, people have talked and supposedly Leo will be picking up the Oscar for his roll in The Wolf of Wall Street… but I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Oscar's

When it comes to the actors and actresses that should have been nominated, this brings up a lot of controversy. A few films who were stripped of the chance to win an Oscar include, “The Butler” and “Saving Mr. Banks” which had outstanding acting and cinematography. Both films gave an insight into very famous situations and people, which shouldn’t have gone unnoticed. As for certain actors and actresses in particular, there is no doubt in my mind that Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker and Tom Hanks definitely deserved a nomination. Although these two movies should have been apart of this years awards, the current nominations are very much deserving.

There are 23 awards ready to be given out which are: Best Picture, Director, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Animated Feature Film, Cinematography, Costume Design, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Film Editing, Foreign Language Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song, Production Design, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Adapted Screenplay and Original Screenplay. All of these awards are very important to the film industry and finding out who wins each will be a thrill for movie fans worldwide.
