Oh yes she did! According to the latest refresh of the Billboard charts, Rihanna (with the help of Eminem) just set a new record for most No.1 Pop songs on Billboard’s Nielson BDS based Pop Songs radio airplay chart.

The Monster”, which has received tremendous radio play and is featured on Eminem’s comeback album, “The Marshall Mathers LP 2,” has become Riri’s 11th chart topper to date, breaking her tie with Katy Perry (10). Billboard Woman of the Year, P!nk follows closely behind with nine No. 1s.

“The Monster” is one of four collaborations by both Rihanna and Eminem, and in many ways it sounds like a recovery anthem after their former “Love the Way You Lie,” which also debuted at No.1. In an interview with MTV, Eminem explained why Rihanna’s voice and persona is perfect for the track:

“The perception of the record, what it’s saying, I thought it would be a good idea to have her on it because I think people look at us like we’re both a little nuts.”

After hearing of her billboard record, Rihanna took to Twitter to show her gratitude for her “Navy” of fans and her continuous successes.

“Thank you!! To God be the Glory #histoRIH” In response to one fan, Rihanna added, “And y’all were born to do it with me!!!”

This has been a big year for the R&B singer who won best soul/R&B female artist as well as the very first ICON award at the American Music Awards just a couple weeks ago. AMA show producer Larry Klein explained the nature of the award:

“The first-ever Icon Award was created to honor an artist whose body of work has made a profound influence over pop music on a global level.”

Certainly her latest billboard record is along those same lines. Now that Rihanna’s Diamond Tour wrapped on November 15th, it seems like all there is left to do is sit patiently behind our computer screens and wait for “The Monster” music video…and for Rihanna to release another No. 1 hit.

Will Katy Perry step in and break the record again? Tweet us your thoughts at @weknowthedj.
