At WeKnowTheDJ, music is our main priority. At the end of the day music doesn’t just bring our entire team together, it connects the entire world. As a team, we spend a lot of time bringing our readers information on mainstream artists. While we’re reporting on stars like Justin Bieber, One Direction and Miley Cyrus, we’re also constantly searching YouTube and social media sites for up-and-coming artists. Occasionally, we’ll stumble upon an artist who we feel deserves some recognition and exposure to a broader fan base so that’s when we post “Up and Coming” articles for our dedicated readers.

This week, while scrolling through my Twitter followers, the words “recording artist” in a bio caught my attention and I decided to do some research. Who did I come across? John Ohelo, more commonly known as John Dough, a rapper, singer, songwriter and recording artist from Canada. If the past tells us anything, Canadians that post videos on YouTube usually end up capturing attention all over the world, think Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen!

The nineteen year old, born May 16th, began his music career while attending high school in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Inspired by events in his life and living by the motto “anything’s possible if you put your mind to it,” John Dough has pushed himself to becoming a better artist each step of the way. On October 21, 2012, Dough released a mixtape titled “Take Off,” with fourteen new tracks, including “Into Space” and “Sun Come Up.” “Into Space” dives into John Dough’s ambition to win while reaching for the stars, even if it means making the haters mad. “Sun Come Up” visits the other end of the spectrum as John Dough raps about “poppin’ bottles like it’s the first of the year,” and partying “’til the morning light,” leading us to believe that he’s enjoying the attention he’s receiving!

Back in July of 2012, John released a video to YouTube for his track “Whatever You Want,” that has since racked up over 113 thousand views. In the video, John Dough takes his love interest to the mall for a shopping date where he proves “spending money ain’t a problem,” and offers to buy his lady “first class s**t.” Living his life full throttle, John Dough lets girls all over the world know that his girl can have whatever she wants, making all of us a little jealous! The video is posted below so go check that out!

More recently, in September of this past year, John Dough returned with another music video for his latest iTunes single, “Fast Lane.” This time, with help from TELUS, John brings another girl on a date but stays away from public places. Cruising around Los Angeles in a Porsche convertible, he’s planning on bringing his girl on an adventure that lives up to the motto, “work hard, play hard.” With intentions of seeing the whole world in one night, Dough brings his date from his apartment to the beach, Sunset Boulevard and ends the night looking over a gorgeous Los Angeles. We’ve also posted the music video for “Fast Lane” below so make sure you check that out too!

This might be the first time you’re hearing of John Dough but we have a feeling it won’t be the last! We’re anticipating a lot from the nineteen year old and we’re excited to see where this journey takes him. We wish him luck in every endeavor! Be sure to follow John Dough on Twitter at @RealJohnDough to stay up-to-date on his adventures and send us a tweet at @weknowthedj to share your thoughts!
