Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole are Heading Down Under!

October 22, 2013

Australia is home to the Great Barrier Reef, Cody Simpson, and 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney. Even though kangaroos and Nemo are hard to compete with, Eminem is up for the challenge. The superstar is heading “down under” in February 2014 for Rapture, a new touring hip-hop festival and is bringing some friends along for the journey!

On October 20, 2013, news of the newest hip-hop festival broke; Eminem has been confirmed as headliners for the four stadium shows early next year. Kendrick Lamar, and J.Cole will be joining Eminem on this “down under” adventure! The trio is stopping in Auckland, New Zealand on February 15th, Melbourne, Australia on February 19th, Brisbane, Australia on February 20th and Sydney, Australia on February 22nd. They’ll be receiving hometown-help from New Zealand rapper David Dallas while in Auckland and Australian hip-hop star 360.

Recent events confirm the challenges of hosting a hip hop festival in Australia; Live Nation’s inaugural Movement fest, Sprung, Rap City, and Supafest have all either been downsized or completely cancelled. If anyone’s up for the challenge and has the ability to go against the grain, it’s Eminem. Last time “Marshall Mathers” hit Australia, he sold-out the entire tour in a true superstar manner.

Rapture is expected to be huge so if you’re in Australia or New Zealand, you don’t want to miss out! Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP2” hits stores in Australia on November 5, 2013 so we can definitely expect some “MMLP2” hits to be performed on the Rapture stage. There’s hopes of Rapture becoming an annual event so you’re definitely going to want to keep your eyes open for more announcements! We’ve posted the complete Rapture schedule and locations below so be sure to check those out and send us a tweet at @weknowthedj to let us know if you’ll be in the audience!

February 15th—Auckland, New Zealand—Western Springs

February 19th—Melbourne, Australia—Etihad Stadium
