JT fans rejoice once again! After taking to Instagram for an epic teasing charade (we hate it but we really love it), Justin Timberlake released “TKO,” the second single from his upcoming album, The 20/20 Experience: Part 2 of 2. The promo was simple: JT started it out right by asking fans in an Instagram post, “Should I release a new single today???”

SPOILER ALERT: Our answer was hell yes.

For the remainder of the day we waited—on the edge of our seats might I add—for his next Instavid post that would undoubtedly feature captivating studio footage with brilliant sound bites from his “#newsingle”. As per usual, he was worth the wait. The President of Pop just demonstrated (once again) why he’s still in charge.

“TKO” is now available for purchase on iTunes, and is also posted on justintimberlake.com.

The dynamic, 7-minute song “TKO is more upbeat than most of the songs on 20/20 P.1, and is characterized by hip-hop influences that may remind some of “Chop Me Up” from his second album, FutureSex/LoveSounds. It’s got that great combo of futuristic synthesizers, layered harmonies, an infectious beat…and it’s just plain sexy. As Justin Timberlake embarks on his World Tour next month, one can’t help but get hyped thinking about dancing to this irresistible rhythm in a live setting. But then again, “TKO” would be pretty fresh in the club as well.

As we have already been told, The 20/20 Experience, which was released in March, is just the first half of a two-piece project.  JT has stated on numerous occasions that the complete project is a collection of 20 songs (plus two bonus tracks only available at Target) that were written in just 20 days. The half-released, No.1 album has already been dubbed neo-soul and “not-quite-pop” because of its unexpected rhythms, harmonies, and elements of older soul music. Due to the elastic nature of JT’s musical flow, the average song length is 7 minutes, making his tunes far more extensive than anything we currently hear on the radio.

After the explosive release of The 20/20 Experience, excitement could not be more unbridled. If this song – and the first single from part 2, “Take Back The Night” – is any indication, one might suspect that the second half of The 20/20 Experience will host a slew of even more danceable jams that will bring Sexy Back – for good!

If you haven’t already, listen to “TKO” below and tweet us at @weknowthedj with your thoughts on the new single!
