Billboard Names P!nk Woman of the Year!

September 19, 2013

Raise your glass to Pink ya’ll! Billboard announced Monday that the pop vocalist will be honored at its annual Women In Music event on Dec. 10th in New York City.

After hearing the news, Pink (born Alecia Moore) said, “I was absolutely shocked and surprised to hear that Billboard named me Woman of the Year.” We, however, were not so shocked.

In all reality, this just puts a huge cherry on top of her already fantastic year in music. Her sixth album, “The Truth About Love” was her first one to top Billboard’s album chart…it also got a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album, and has now sold 1.7 million copies. The album supports her tradition of major pop hits with that bad girl edge that we can all appreciate. She delivered three top 10 hits, including her No. 1 track “Just Give Me A Reason” which featured Fun.’s Nate Ruess. Did I mention that she also got her 6th VMA this year? Yeah. The woman is killing it.

“It’s been an incredible year and I feel so grateful to radio for sticking by me, and to the fans and friends and all of the incredible talent that I was fortunate enough to work with for this album,” she added.

The woman is on point; her other latest jams “Try,” “Blow Me (One Last Kiss),” and “True Love,” have all gotten significant pop air play. When you look back on all her continued success, it’s no wonder Billboard made her their pick. Past winners include Katy Perry, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift.

Until the December event, Pink continues on her international “The Truth About Love” tour.  For more info visit:
