The Best YouTube Covers This Week

September 6, 2013

YouTube is a great place to view videos from inspirational speeches to hot new music videos, but it has also become known as an awesome place for artists to begin to collect viewers with covers, before, after, or even during their process of writing their own music. Here are the week’s top cover videos!

Avicii “Wake Me Up” cover by Runaground. Andy Kirk heads the band which is based out of East Nashville, TN.  He is an up and coming male artist who named his band after an experience his grandfather had, saying on his Facebook page, “My grandfather was in the navy during WWII and the ship that he was on (The LCI-G 580) “ran aground” of the coast of the Filipinos islands in the Leyte gulf. Because of the mishap, the ship did not reach its destination on time during that mission, and my grandfather said that there lives were likely spared, because the battle they were headed into, was one they would have probably not survived. So… sometimes the ship runs aground, and sometimes there”s a reason.” Along with the cool name, Runaground covers songs flawlessly, the one below sounds just as good as the original. He has also uploaded some original songs, check them out!

Miley Cyrus “We Can’t Stop” cover by PostModern Jukebox. This is one of those songs that you will either love or hate, but I love it! I think the Doo Wop feel they add to the song is awesome! This band has numerous other covers that they perform in this manner, so if you like this one, be sure to go check them out! The song also features The Tee-Tones.

Katy Perry’s “Roar” covered by Tori Kelly and Scott Hoying. Followers of Scooter Braun’s managed musicians will of course know who the very powerful Tori Kelly is. Yes, she is Mega Moolah er ratoff!Mega Joker er en norsk klassiker som du casino online kan teste her! Spill en av de beste norske spilleautomater idag. known, but this cover deserves some recognition! The acoustic feel of the song is awesome and I like Tori’s voice on the track better than Katy’s. Scott is a great addition to the song as he and Tori’s voices make for an awesome collaboration. This video is their first take!
“Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood covered by Shane Guerrette. I first heard this song on a really strange 8tracks playlist, but now it’s all popular and on the radio! Which is really exciting for The Neighbourhood; a fairly new alternative rock band based out of Cali. Shane Guerrette really does this song justice; his voice is light and sounds great with this track. He is also very cute and it’s easy to see he’s really into his talent and has fun doing it.

Luke Bryan’s “Crash My Party” cover by Jess Moskaluke. Of course I had to add some country music to this list! This beautiful Canadian gave me just what I was looking for, Jess Moskaluke does an awesome job covering this song with just her vocals and some background piano. She has a lovely voice and is definitely on her way to stardom!
