The Wanted Own The Night!

August 12, 2013

Ready for another party anthem from The Wanted? Just like “Glad You Came” and “Chasing The Sun”, “We Own The Night” is another attention grabbing tune that you’ll catch yourself singing randomly throughout the day.

The melody of the song reminds me of Fun’s “Some Nights”, which in turn gives off an in-the-wild feel (more specifically the chorus.) Although the song approaches the partying aspect, there’s actually a more inspirational meaning behind the lyrics. “When my time is over, lying in my grave/ Written on my tombstone, I want it to say/ This man was a legend, a legend of his time/ When he was at a party, the party never died.” Then the boys proceed on singing about seizing the night in the chorus. Like other songs out right now, The Wanted took to the studio to put out their own twist on how to encourage everyone to live life in fullness, but also make the song catchy.  And if I may, I’d like to say they succeeded.

Now I don’t think it’d be very Wanted-like to release a video without some form of wild antics. The video opens with scenes of the band lounging in bar and of partygoers getting ready for the night out. Nathan is also seen playing the piano along to the music. There’s pool playing, guitar strumming, beer drinking…The Wanted’s natural habitat. A few smooches took places, including Max getting one laid upon him by an old lady.

“We Own The Night” is an all around interesting package. The Wanted seem to be on a constant ascent in their career, with their reality TV show and upcoming album “Word of Mouth”, releasing on September 17th.

Make sure you check out “We Own The Night” on iTunes and the music video below!
