The Wanted Says Goodbye to the Cameras and Hello to the Studio

July 15, 2013

This past June, the entertainment world got a new look into the stardom of The Wanted. It’s rare for a music group to give reality TV cameras access into their private lives but the five The Wanted members did just that! I’m not going to lie, when The Wanted Life was first announced, I was a little skeptical because I didn’t want to see the boys in staged, almost scripted scenarios but the season surpassed my expectations and I’m ready for season two! For the past seven weeks, fans got an inside look at the lifestyle surrounding Max, Nathan, Jay, Tom and Siva with additional shenanigans provided by their friends, families, fans and even some random house guests after late nights of partying.

July 14th marked the end of the first season of The Wanted Life and while fans are disappointed that the boys won’t be on their TVs every Sunday night, they should be excited for the future of The Wanted. This season was full of laughs, a few disagreements, a potential career-ending injury and plenty of jokes on Nano. Scooter Braun also made a handful of appearances on The Wanted Life, showing the variety of meetings that a Scooter Braun artist must go through. After dancing on the conference room table because of an appearance at the White House, Tom’s biggest question was if they were going to be able to meet Bo, the Obama’s dog. Scooter also mentored the boys in career meetings and a few emotional meetings. Scooter landed Max his first movie audition (you should watch the finale to see the outcome and what Max decides to do!) and was the “shoulder to lean on” while Nathan was dealing with vocal surgery.

Speaking of Nathan’s vocal surgery, the youngest of The Wanted has proved that nothing will knock him down because he’ll always get up and keep fighting. Since the second episode of the season, Nathan has battled a vocal nodule that put his entire singing career in jeopardy. The season finale started off with Nathan going in for a surgery that would hopefully get him back with Max, Jay, Tom and Siva. After surgery was over, the other four boys visited Nathan in the hospital with a creative get well soon card but honestly, I’m not sure Nathan remembers the boys visiting him!

While Nathan returned to the UK to recover from surgery, the other four boys made their way back to Scooter’s office to hear a potential new single. Scooter presented the boys with a track called “We Own the Night” and all four of them loved it right away! Later on in the finale, Max called Scooter a genius and I’m going to have to agree with him on that. If anything, The Wanted will own every night with this new single!

A month later, the rest of the boys (and girlfriends) returned to the UK to their families and friends. Seeing each boy interact with those closest to them made viewers hearts melt all around the world. Max is so cute while having tea with his mom and brother while reminiscing about the band’s time in the United States. Tom also gets to spend some quality time with Kelsey’s family and I must say, there’s not much better than a boy playing with little kids! While in the UK, Nathan visits his vocal coach and old music school to get two of his mentor’s opinions on returning to The Wanted. After surgery, Nathan’s main goal was to return to The Wanted in time for the Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium.

While Max, Siva, Tom and Jay were rehearsing for Summertime Ball, Scooter makes an appearance with a “surprise” for the band. Scooter Braun is the king of all surprises and this time, he was finally reuniting the entire band. With a pending “game time” decision, Nathan was one step closer to joining the stage at Wembley Stadium in front of 82,000 fans. While under the stage with a secret-service type of entrance planned, Nathan said, “let’s just kill it,” and he did exactly that. We’ve posted a video of Nathan’s return below and the now-healthy singer was completely sincere when saying, “I’m home.” Just a warning, if this is your first time watching this video, you may get goosebumps because Nathan sounds incredible and has once again proven that he’s a fighter who won’t be giving up on his dream!

At the very end of the finale, fans were treated to a special sneak peek of The Wanted’s newest single, “We Own The Night.” While a video montage played, the background music was Max in the studio singing his part of the upcoming song. Scooter Braun knows when he discovers a hit single that will make each artist a household name and I wouldn’t be surprised if “We Own The Night” is that single for The Wanted. Justin Bieber has Baby, Carly Rae Jepsen has Call Me Maybe, Psy has Gangnam Style and pretty soon The Wanted will have We Own the Night. Everyone at Weknowthedj is joining Max, Siva, Tom, Jay and Nathan on their toast “to the future,” because it’s going to be a bright one for these stars!

One side-note to management though, PLEASE DO NOT let them get a baby like the one from The Hangover and name it Arthur! (Sorry Jay!) Well, that’s a wrap for season one of The Wanted Life. The boys are working hard in the studio and getting ready for their album and tour so definitely keep an eye out for it and be sure to send us a tweet at @weknowthedj and let us know your thoughts!
