First Day of OVO Fest: CANCELLED!

July 30, 2013

OVO Fest has become an annual celebration started by Toronto’s very 0wn, Drake, back in August 2010. The event is held during the Civic holiday weekend, also known as Carribanna weekend in Toronto which is a popular Caribbean festival in city.

OVO Fest is best known for the special guests Drake brings back home to Toronto. Guests include the likes of Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, The Weeknd, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and the list can go on for pages.

This year the event is set to co-headline James Blake, Wale and Frank Ocean. However, due to recent reports of Frank Ocean’s vocal problems, OVO Fest has cancelled the first day. Ocean, who suffered a tear on his vocal cord last week has already cancelled his Australian tour on top of the OVO performance at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Canada’s largest city.

James Blake who was set to perform on the same bill as ocean will now be moved to the sold out show the next day on August 5th along with Drake and Wale. All tickets for August 4th will be refunded.

The first we heard of Ocean’s vocal struggles was during his opening night of tour in Melbourne, Australia. He openly admitted to his audience about his struggle as he said, “I’m sick… I don’t know if you care,” during a run of his track “Forrest Gump”.

OVO Fest still has an incredible line up for the August 5th so make sure you don’t miss it, Otherwise, Frank Ocean fans should sit tight! We have a feeling he’ll be back sooner than you know it.

Tweet us at @weknowthedj if you were planning on attending the festival on August 4th or if you’re still going on August 5th!
