Young Money’s Newest: Chanel West Coast

June 28, 2013

You might recognize her as the host of MTV’s hit show Ridiculousness, but her fans will soon be introduced to her rapping abilities. 24-year-old Chanel West Coast has been signed to Young Money label shortly after being introduced to Lil Wayne himself.

Recently, Chanel celebrated the release of her début mixtape “Now You Know” in Los Angeles, while the official release date is set to July 2nd. Fans can expect features from Snoop Dogg, Robin Thicke, French Montana and Honey Cocaine.

Although she primarily raps, Chanel says that she sings on some of the tracks. “I went very different on every song” she told Billboard. After this upcoming release, she plans on releasing a full length album. She told billboard that the last year has been all about music so she has a ton of material to work with, which is great news for the fans! “I always say that I want to be like 2Pac. If I were to die tomorrow, I want to know that I have enough music to put out for my fans for years to come.”

With the anticipation of her mixtape at a high, Chanel added some praise about her new boss, Lil Wayne. “He gives you the freedom to do what you want and be creative and then he gives his official approval later on.”

Although tour details are still in the works for the newly-signed rapper, it’s been confirmed that she’ll be making appearances on Lil Wayne’s “America’s Most Wanted” tour, which kicks off July 3. Along with Chanel, Lil Wayne will be hosting many other Young Money artists during the tour.
