Everyday, aspiring musicians seeking stardom hit the web to do just so. With YouTube, the ambitious bunches are able to showcase their talent. Beat boxing, harmonizing, acapella…the choices are endless. And you may never know who is watching; maybe a potential manager who can help you find your way to fame?

This week I  picked five recent YouTube covers that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was tough, considering the amount of talent out there, but these are the ones that stood out the most.

1. Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” cover by Justin Breit

This is the first time I’ve listened to a cover by Justin Breit, and I’ve clearly been missing out. If you’ve listened to “We Can’t Stop” before, you know it’s got that party-hype vibe to it. Breit did a complete 180 to the song. With only his guitar, he slowed it down to a mellow vibe and even singing about “shakin’ it like we’re at a strip club”, it sounds quite beautiful.

2. Justin Timberlake’s “Mirror” cover by Cimorelli feat. James Maslow

These six sisters have been hitting YouTube with their renditions of today’s pop hits for quite a while now. What I liked about this cover is that they didn’t stray too far from the original song, but still managed to put their own twist to it. In addition, James Maslow (from Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush) featured on the cover and he is definitely the type to swoon over.

3. Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out Of Heaven” cover by KRNFX

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cover as unique as this one. He didn’t just strip down the song to a guitar and his vocals, or sit down at a piano while he belts his heart out. With the Roland RC300 Loopstation, KRNFX made an original beat boxing beat for the pop hit. And if that wasn’t enough to blow your mind, his voice doesn’t disappoint either! This is surely one of the most creative covers I’ve ever feasted my eyes on.

4.  Pink ft. Nate Ruess’ “Just Give Me A Reason” cover by Chester See & Madilyn Bailey

Chester See and Madilyn Bailey teamed up on this duo to deliver their enticing rendition of “Just Give Me A Reason.” The California native hit the keys on the piano while Bailey sang the parts of Pink. When Nate Ruess’ lines came up, See took on his parts. Together, they sound like an appealing couple, their voices being in-sync. What caught my attention really were just their striking voices, especially Bailey’s. Separate? They’re wonderful. Together? Forget about it.

5. Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” cover by Daniel J

Yes, another cover of “We Can’t Stop”, but this one was done by 16-year-old Daniel J. Unlike Breit, he didn’t acoustify it, nevertheless, he still added his own spice to it. His voice is very soft, yet it still absorbs you. On his page, the young British singer has other covers where he exhibits his voice acoustically. Daniel J has already gained thousands of fans, and I’m sure that isn’t solely due to his looks.
