The Truth Revealed about Kelly Rowland’s “Dirty Laundry”

June 11, 2013

The world has been abuzz the past few weeks with rumors and speculations concerning Kelly Rowland’s latest single, “Dirty Laundry”.  The track is an exceedingly blatant take from Rowland’s upcoming album, Talk a Good Game, and explicitly refers to a spat occurring between Rowland and former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Beyonce.  Fans have been intrigued by the revealing track, naturally inclined to discover more about what went down between the two superstars and how this has affected their relationship today.

But in an interview with “OMG! Insider”, Rowland quickly cleared up any suggestions that she and Bey are anything less than best friends. “I love my sister, and she is so incredibly supportive – one of the closest people to me,” She says. “I love her to death.”

According to the starlet, it was she – not Beyonce – who “checked out for a minute”, likely due to the jealousy she experienced in relation to Bey, an emotion that is explored in “Dirty Laundry”.

“I think the people wanted those stories for years,” Rowland responds in regards to rumors about a rift between the two. “That’s just so sad on them because it’s not like that. It’s so crazy, and I just think it’s so sad that we live in a world where people don’t want to see women get along and encourage and empower each other, and that’s what we do for each other.”

The-Dream, who penned the very personal single for Rowland, opened up to Mina SayWhat about how he came to hit the nail on the head in terms of expressing how Rowland was feeling in “Dirty Laundry”: “I took that emotion and pain in those times where it was just a dark period where none of us knew what was going on. I said, ‘That’s interesting. Let me see.’ Then I did my own little detective work.”

Along with addressing the conflict once felt between Rowland and Bey, “Dirty Laundry” addresses an abusive relationship that Rowland was once a part of. “I had to walk away,” She says. “You just get tired. You get tired of not being happy. That’s not a life you want to live.”

Talk a Good Game is scheduled to drop June 18th, where listeners will get a chance to hear Destiny’s Child reunited once more on the track “You’ve Changed”. Such a collaboration is proof that Rowland and Bey’s relationship is, as Rowland says, better than ever.
