From the UK to the US: The Wanted Life Premieres on E!

June 3, 2013

July 2010 was the month that started it all for British boy band The Wanted. Although the group formed in 2009, summer 2010 was the release of their debut album “The Wanted.” Those five crazy guys have come a long way since their debut and they’ve officially made their move from the United Kingdom to the United States to record their new album. Signed by Island Records and Mercury Records, the band is managed by none other than Weknowthedj favorite, Scooter Braun. Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness, and Tom Parker are Los Angeles’ newest residents and E! cameras are on-hand to give everyone an inside look on the craziness that is “The Wanted Life.” Siva has brought along mature girlfriend Nareesha, while Tom has brought party-girl girlfriend Kelsey to live with the five guys at the mansion. And then there’s Nano, the guys’ day-to-day manager who has a lot to put up with and thinks he deserves a raise and I’m going to have to agree! Sunday June 2nd was the premiere of The Wanted Life and the season has definitely started off with a bang. Unfortunately, The Wanted Life hasn’t premiered worldwide yet, so I’ll try not to spoil the episode too much!

If you’ve experienced a true college frat party then you have some indication of what living with The Wanted must feel like. The only way to break in a new mansion? By throwing two parties in a row, of course! Beer pong, shots, flirting and a sleepover sounds like the average party at colleges all around the United States. Add five superstars, and you can understand the mayhem that is the mansion. AND… there’s a Confession Cam! Yes, the guys and girlfriends get to give us some Real World-type footage. Siva and Jay prove that the Confession Cam is going to be one of the best parts of each episode. The partying doesn’t only happen at their home though, they’re frequent visitors to Sunset Blvd’s Rock and Reilly’s Irish Pub. Poor Nathan though, he went from legally being allowed to drink alcohol in England to ordering “just a coke” while out at pubs. While partying one night at Rock and Reilly’s, Team Bieber icon Kenny Hamilton even makes an appearance. Should we expect more of Team Bieber in this season of The Wanted Life? My guess is YES! So definitely be sure to keep watching this season!

But it’s not all fun and games for the guys; before throwing bash #2, they head to the studio to lay down tracks and plan out the album. The guys also kill a performance at the Palladium, right after harassing Nano in the Green Room. That raise is looking more and more necessary. They sound incredible and you should definitely be looking forward to their upcoming album. After all, they are in America for work, which is made very clear by Scooter when the guys get called in for a meeting. While talking about their constant partying, Scooter shows viewers (and The Wanted guys) his strict side, to which Jay responds, “We’re not going to like set fire to a baby.” The sass of The Wanted is evident and I have a really good feeling that this won’t be the only meeting with Scooter that fans will get to see.

This season is going to be full of craziness, mayhem and partying; but, like everything else in life, downs accompany ups. We’re going to see the struggle of Nathan losing his voice and needing surgery and there will be plenty of drama with the girlfriends. Keep watching because you never know what’s going to happen. The mayhem might be crazy on-screen but it doesn’t stop when the cameras aren’t rolling though. A few days ago, Max and Jay went missing in NYC and Scooter took to Twitter to find the missing boys. Hey Nano, if you want that raise, I suggest not losing two boy-band members!

A recap of things I learned in the first episode of The Wanted Life: There’s not much better than a British accent. Scooter Braun means business and when he talks, you listen. Nano deserves a raise. Putting a “Confession Cam” in The Wanted’s house is a brilliant idea. If you visit the guys at home, don’t go in the hot tub.

Send us a tweet at @weknowthedj and let us know your thoughts on the first episode of The Wanted Life, what’s to come this season, and your thoughts on the boys. From everyone at Weknowthedj, we wish The Wanted complete success, and Nathan; we’re rooting for you to make a full recovery!
