Boy bands have taken the world by storm for decades. In the 90’s, The Backstreet Boys and N’SYNC were dominating the pop music scene. Today, we have The Wanted and One Direction. Before Justin Timberlake was bringing “sexy back” in his “suit and tie” and before some of the most gorgeous British boys were taking over the charts, we had Hanson. This year marks the trio’s 21st year as a group and they’re celebrating the way that almost every 21st birthday (or in this case, anniversary) is celebrated in America: with alcohol. The band has partnered with Mustang Brewing to create “Mmmhops,” named after their 1997 hit song, “MmmBop.”

“Mmmhops” isn’t available to the public until this fall, but you can get “Mmmhops” merchandise at www.mmmhops.com.  With stardom and fame comes the platform to help those less fortunate. The trio is helping their home state of Oklahoma, who is now recovering from last week’s devastating tornado, as proceeds from all merchandise sold is going to the Red Cross’s tornado relief efforts. When asked why choose the Oklahoma tornado relief effort to receive funds, Taylor Hanson said, “The tragedy hits close to home, especially since this community was among the first places our band performed together. We are hopeful that the proceeds we can galvanize will play a lasting role in the recovery efforts.”

“Mmmhops” made its debut at the Los Angeles premiere of “The Hangover Part III” since “MmmBop” is featured in the blockbuster hit. Hanson’s sixth album, “Anthem,” will release on June 18th and the trio is currently promoting their current single, “Get the Girl Back,” featuring Fitz and The Tantrums. Hanson is also setting out on tour this fall, so if you’re a 90’s boy band fan, be on the lookout for tickets!

Everyone at Weknowthedj sends our thoughts and well wishes to everyone that’s been impacted by the horrific tornado. We’re just as hopeful that the “Mmmhops” proceeds boost recovery efforts. I’m also almost positive that our 21-and-over team members will definitely be trying Mmmhops and letting all of us know how it tastes! Send us a tweet at @weknowthedj to let us know what your thoughts are!
