“The greatest celebration of black music, entertainment, and culture ever” is what we are told this night consists of. It’s one of the most eventful award nights of the year, better known as the BET awards hosted by Chris Tucker!

Drake, who has yet to drop his 2013 album is leading the nomination board with a whopping 12 nods. These include the category for Best Collaboration with 2 Chainz “No Lie” and A$AP Rocky’s “Problems”, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, and 4 out of the 10 nominations for Video of the Year. The Toronto MC is taking reign over the 2013 year and we’re anticipating he will be earning a few platinum plaques after the release of his third LP, “Nothing Was The Same”. But there’s no denying the Young Money hit maker will be leaving the BET awards, which are being held June 30th, with a handful of awards to add to his collection.

Not quite up to par but following right behind Drake are 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar with 8 nods apiece. A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z each holding 5 and with 4 nods, the man who kept hidden from the music world for 6 years, Justin Timberlake.

So if you’re not tuning in on June 30 to watch your favourite artists get well-deserved recognition for their hard work, you’re definitely watching for the performances. You’re in for a treat this year as the BET Awards have announced performances by R-Kelly and Chris Brown who will be performing his second single off his album “X” which has vocals featuring the late Aaliyah. A snippet of the track has been caught on a Vine below and it already sounds amazing:

If you’re a resident of LA or in the neighbouring cities close by, The BET awards offers you the BET Experience running from June 28 to June 30. This experience includes a VIP treatment all weekend, premium seats, admission to the BET events and red carpets. The weekend events includes performances by Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and more. If you’re lucky enough to be able to attend, check out: www.betexperience.com/vip
