R.I.P Remix Dropped Feat. Chris Brown!

April 4, 2013

Shortly after releasing the music video, Young Jeezy gave DJ Drama the green light to drop the remix of the club banger ‘R.I.P.’. The track originally has a guest verse from 2 Chainz, but along with the remix comes a verse from Chris Brown and Compton natives YG and Kendrick Lamar.

The song starts off cool as Jeezy throws a low-key diss towards MTV’s “Hottest MCs” list as he raps “trap star b**ch, spell it with a big T / Give a damn if I never be a hottest MC / cause I’m a hood n**** I’m first on everybody’s list.” Then we hear a couple of verses from YG and Kendrick Lamar before Chris Brown comes in with a not-so-low key diss himself.

“Dearly departed, I bought a plane I departed/ And if you started from the bottom, go on and come out the closet.” This is the verse from Chris Brown that has the hip-hop world buzzing. Although there is no mention of Toronto rapper, Drake in the lyrics, it is clear that the “started from the bottom” reference is towards Drakes latest single, “Started From The Bottom”.
