Mac Miller: Rap Hero

April 30, 2013

It’s not an often occurrence for an independently-signed artist to achieve the fame and success that Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller has. Throughout the past several years, Miller has released several mix tapes, but so far just one studio recorded album. His second: Watching Movies With The Sound Off is set to come out this summer and will feature song collaborations with Snoop Lion, Gucci Mane and Tyler the Creator among others.

The first single from the album was released last week and is titled “S.D.S.” an acronym for “Somebody Do Somethin’” Those who watched his reality show on MTV2, will have already heard a portion of the song when a part of it was played on the second episode. The video for the song was released on April 24.

It sustains the hype for the most dope fan base, entertaining them with a story where Miller is a self-induced crime fighting hero with a bulldog for a sidekick and a pack of bad bitches. A few of his crew online casino members from the show also make appearances in the video. The song’s video is a little bit trippy and is currently at about half a million views on its fifth day being on YouTube, the song was produced by LA music producer Flying Lotus and the video directed by Ian Wolfson of Rex Arrow Films.
For those who don’t know, “Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family” was approved for a second season! Hopefully some tour dates for WMWTSO will be out sometime this summer, but for those of you south Florida fans, Miller will be performing at Sunfest on May 5 in downtown West Palm Beach, hopefully he will bust out the new single and someone will record it! Be sure to check out the video below and purchase the song on iTunes here:
