Demi Lovato Releases Heart Attack Music Video

April 10, 2013

Fierce. That’s the one word that came to mind as I watched Demi Lovato’s music video for Heart Attack for the very first time.

The video starts with a fresh-faced Demi, in front of a white background, meant to portray the innocence that will later disappear as the song progresses. That very same innocence becomes masked as the twenty-year old continues to sing and the darker elements soon take over. While accompanied by her band and singing, “You make me glow, but I cover up
Won’t let it show, so I’m
Puttin’ my defenses up
Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack,” Demi shows why she lets the darker elements take over much of the video. Demi slowly covers herself with black paint, which serves as a sense of protection against falling in love. Her white, innocent aura soon becomes darker as she rocks out with a dark top and smoky eyes.

While the entire music video is full of raw emotion, Demi also proves that she has that same raw emotion while performing live. The Texas-native took the stage at Good Morning America in New York City on April 10th to perform Heart Attack. The emotion that she puts into every type of performance, whether it be a music video that millions of people are going to see, or an intimate news studio audience, Demi proves that she is a true talent who just wants to make music.

Heart Attack debuted at number one on the iTunes charts in 19 countries. It’s also the lead single for Demi’s newest album, titled Demi, which comes out on May 14th, so be sure to get that as soon as it arrives!
