New Music Hits the Radio

March 5, 2013

While listening to the radio for longer than half an hour, it’s guaranteed that you’re going to hear the same song more than once. Due to how quickly the radio songs become repetitive, there’s always a lot of excitement once a new round of singles hit the airways. Luckily for music fans around the world, that “new round” was just released so now we have plenty of new music to listen to!

Demi Lovato—Heart Attack

Originally, Demi Lovato was planning on releasing her newest single, Heart Attack, on March 4th but it was unfortunately leaked early, which required Demi to officially release the song early. Demi’s fourth untitled album has an expected release date of Spring 2013 and Heart Attack gives us a preview of what’s to come on the new album. Heart Attack is all about uncertainty, taking risks, and lacking confidence while entering a new relationship. With lyrics like, “So I’m putting my defenses cause I don’t wanna fall in love/If I ever did that I think I’d have a heart attack,” Demi has provided us with the perfect song for jamming out before a girl’s night out!

Justin Bieber feat. Drake—Right Here

It seems like all good things come from Canada so when two Canadians team up for a project, it’s practically guaranteed to be a hit. Justin Bieber announced the release of his newest single, his collaboration with Drake, titled Right Here. The song has a completely different attitude than Bieber’s last single, Beauty and a Beat. This time, it’s slowed down and Drizzy and Justin are saying everything that a girl wants to hear. With the lyrics, “I can make you feel perfect, girl you’re worth it/I just need to see you work it, girl,” Justin has proved to us that anytime the now 19-year old collaborates with any YMCMB artist, the song is going to be a success!

Carly Rae Jepsen—Tonight I’m Getting Over You

Friendly competition never hurt anyone, and friendly competition is the current mood between Justin Bieber and his own artist, Carly Rae Jepsen. The nominations for the Juno Awards were just announced and the two are going head-to-head in each category that Justin was nominated for. The award show stage on April 21st isn’t the only place that competition exists for the duo though; they’ve both just released new singles! The Vancouver pop princess just released her newest single, Tonight I’m Getting Over You, all about a friends-with-benefits relationship that needs to end. Carly describes the relationship as, “We’re not lovers/But more than friends.” But once you see the lead male for this music video, chances are you’d completely be willing to be “more than friends” with him! Carly seems like the luckiest girl in the music industry right now, she’s currently travelling the world on the Believe Tour, and she gets to star besides ridiculously attractive young men in music videos! Hey Carly, if you ever need a personal day, I can fill in for you!

Bruno Mars—When I Was Your Man

While Carly Rae is singing about finding herself a new man, Bruno Mars is giving us a song about the same situation, just from the other side! Each story has two sides, and in When I Was Your Man, Bruno is letting us know how he’s feeling about losing the girl. The lyrics “Too young, too dumb to realize/That I should have bought you flowers and held your hand/Should have gave you all my hours when I had the change/Take you to every party cause all you wanted to do was dance/Now my baby is dancing, but she’s dancing with another man,” shows us that Bruno realizes what he did wrong, and he’s sitting around wishing he could have changed the outcome. The song is so cute and is definitely going to be the song that girls everywhere are blasting when they’re having days filled with chick flicks, endless romantic comedies and maybe even a cry session with The Notebook.

All four of these singles, plus plenty of other ones, are all available on iTunes and you definitely want to download all of them so you know the words! Practice makes perfect and you’re going to need plenty of practice for when your car becomes an arena; because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good car ride jam sesh? Tweet us at @weknowthedj and let us know your thoughts on the new round of music hitting the airways!
