JT Releases “Mirrors” Music Video

March 22, 2013

After releasing his album “20/20 Experience” this week, Justin Timberlake drops the official music video for the single, “Mirrors”.

From the promo clip, Timberlake pays tribute to his grandparents who were married for 63 years and invites his fans on a journey that is the video of his second offering from his new album.

The nearly 8-and-a-half-minute long video, that begins with the message “For William and Sadie”(his grandparents), is a love story that portrays an elderly couple who flash back to their experiences together from the day they first met.

The various clips in the video capture their ups and downs with juxtaposed clips, which include a distraught bride on her wedding night, and the elderly couple smiling and dancing happily together. It isn’t until the end of the video that Timberlake himself appears in a room full of mirrors where at times, the mirrors become transparent leaving him facing a woman with white hair. JT dances and grooves around with his reflections until the end of the video singing, “You are, you are the love of my life”. How poetic!

The song is rumored to be an ode to his wife, Jessica Biel, and his hopes to spend the rest of his life with her. But as always, JT does not hold anything back as he revels in an exclusive voice clip about the real meaning behind Mirrors,

“Mirrors is a love song, to someone that you feel like is, you know, your sort of, other half. … I’ve heard a little bit from people around me telling me that it could be a good wedding song. Which, hey, that’s awesome. I find it interesting too that in wedding vows you say ‘I do’ when I feel like what you should say is ‘I will’. Because I think a relationship, when it’s working, it’s constantly evolving because we as individuals evolve and want to know that the person that you’re with is evolving with you … There’s a line in the second verse saying ‘I can’t ever change without you’ and if you take it at face value, maybe because it makes sense, that’s more or less what it means … It’s definitely a special song for me…“
