March 28, 2013

When it comes to Drake’s unbearable talent, this 26-year-old Toronto native has the whole package. Drake, otherwise known as Aubrey Graham, started his career in 2001 where he started out acting on Toronto’s hit show entitled “Degrassi”. Later in his career, he realized acting wasn’t his thing anymore and he started rapping… which was clearly the right choice!

Drake released his first ever EP in 2009 called So Far Gone which includes the smash hits known as “Best I Ever had” and “Successful”. In 2010, Drake released his first ever full length studio album entitled Thank Me Later which included the popular singles “Over” and “Find Your Love”. The album did incredibly well and made its way onto the Billboard 200.

In 2011, Drake let his talents be known with his second studio album entitled Take Care. This album took off and is his most successful work to date. This album in particular topped the charts in North America and produced a multitude of singles including, “Headlines”, “Take Care”, “Make Me Proud”, and of course “The Motto” which lead to the famous phrase known as YOLO (You Only Live Once).

Finally, in 2012, Drake began his Club Paradise Tour which became the most successful hip-hop tour of 2012 where he accumulated $42 Million. With Drake’s success, he has sold over $5 Million albums, won a number various awards and has topped the charts with a total of 10 singles.

Just recently, Drake released a single entitled “5AM In Toronto”. The song elaborates on the idea of him staying up late thinking about his haters. For instance, he says in the lyrics “bad press during the summer over allegations”. This specifically relates to his run-in with Chris Brown and what happened in the summer of 2012. He then touches on his comparisons to LeBron James and Frank Sinatra. The song is extremely well written and sheds light on what he thinks about over and over again at 5AM in Toronto.
