Lil Twist Finally Drops Contact

February 28, 2013

If you follow Lil Twist on Twitter, over the past few months there’s a great possibility that your timeline has been flooded by the hashtag #CONTACT and plenty of #TeamTwist retweets. Well Team Twist, the wait is over because Contact is officially out! Twist took to Twitter on February 21st to announce that Contact is finally released! In anticipation to the release, members of Team Twist changed their Twitter pictures to the cover art for the mix tape, making it a little difficult to differentiate between fans and the 20-year-old YMCMB rapper while scrolling through his Twitter profile. Even though the release was announced on February 21st, the song didn’t actually hit the airways until after midnight on February 26th when Twist retweeted a link containing the song. While we’re not completely sure this was the way that Twist wanted to reveal the song, it’s out and now we want to know what your thoughts are on the song!

While waiting for the release of Contact, we figured it’d be a good idea to give you guys a background on Twist, because he’s definitely more than just ‘that guy that’s always with Justin Bieber.’ Lil Twist has been in the music industry since 2007 after Lil Wayne saw one of his talented performances at an opening for a concert. Twist has already released five mixtapes: The Yearbook, Class President, The Takeover: Carte Blanche Edition, The Golden Child and 3 Weeks In Miami with Khalil. Lil Twist has also been in the news recently due to the fact that at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, he released a new line of headphones. The multi-colored headphone line is called Swag Earphones and will be released in the United States in the spring. Swag Earphones are going to be perfect for listening to Contact!

When asked, “What is Contact about?” Twist could only respond with “just gotta wait and see lol.” While statements haven’t been made about some accusations, Twist took to Contact to speak out on the weed drama that has recently made media headlines. We don’t want to give away too much information, but we can promise that this song is definitely a progression of Twist’s talents. The song is explicit though, so the younger weknowthedj readers should stay away from this one, sorry!  Lil Twist has matured as a person and an artist and it’s showing in his work. Only time can tell what’s to come for Twist, but we’re all excited to see what the future holds! The link for the song is right below, so check that out and let us know what you think!

While Contact definitely has the potential to be a hit for the 20-year-old Dallas native, it’s not going to be the only success he finds in 2013. Twist’s first studio album, Don’t Get It Twisted, is set for release this spring. Don’t worry though; I’m sure there will be plenty more #TeamTwist retweet sprees. Be sure to tweet us at @weknowthedj and let us know your thoughts on Contact. You should also follow Lil Twist (@LilTwist) to keep yourself updated on his future plans!
