Fall Out Boy is back with a NEW ALBUM!

February 6, 2013

“When we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music. It’s why we started Fall Out Boy in the first place. This isn’t a reunion because we never broke up.”  reads a message on the front page of punk-pop band Fall Out Boy’s website – a message which instantly ignited a flurry of excitement and speculation worldwide as the internet buzzed at the news. And, indeed, the gist of the announcement is as clear as ever: after a three year hiatus during which vocalist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, drummer Andy Hurley, and guitarist Joe Trohman each engaged in various individual projects, Fall Out Boy is ready to get back in action and make their much-awaited comeback.

We needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us. The future of Fall Out Boy starts now. Save rock and roll…” Continues the message, followed by a list of tour dates, the first of which began yesterday night in Chicago and which sold out practically instantly. The band will play in New York and Los Angeles later this week, both shows of which have also sold out.

The Wilmette, Illinois based band is set to release a brand new album entitled Save Rock and Roll, which is slated to drop May 6th and 7th worldwide. The phenomenally talented four will then take to the road for the Save Rock and Roll Tour, which will kick off May 14th in Milwaukee. Tickets are bound to go quick and will be available for sale to the general public beginning February 8th and 9th.

The news is enough to make any music fan eager to see what incredible work the band has in store for the world. And fans can do just that, as along with breaking the news of the album and tour, Fall Out Boy has already released a brand new single to satiate us as we anticipate the arrival of May 6th. The track, titled “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)” proves that Fall Out Boy has not lost it in the slightest; if anything, they’ve gotten more talented and are ready for dominance in the music world once more. The song is an upbeat, grungy blend of melodies and beats.  It’s classic Fall Out Boy with an edgy twist and can only give us a taste of the musical brilliance which is bound to accompany Save Rock and Roll.

“My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)” is now available for purchase on iTunes, and the music video can be viewed on YouTube. Join the conversation by tweeting us your thoughts about Fall Out Boy’s electrifying comeback!
