Drake Starts off February with New Music News & a Grammy

February 11, 2013

February seems to be the month for new music, and Canadian superstar Drake is jumping on the bandwagon and putting out new music of his own. On February 1st, Drake took to his blog and posted his official first single off his third album. The song, titled Started From The Bottom, shows the rapper’s journey and gives an insight on his life before the fame. On the blog post, Drake wrote, “I feel sometimes that people don’t have enough information about my beginnings and therefore they make up a life story for me that isn’t consistent with actual events. My family and my second family (consisting of the best friends anybody could ever have) all struggled and worked extremely hard to make all this happen. I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve. I am proud of every part of my past and I’m excited for this song to find a place in your life as well.”

Ten days after posting the audio clip for Started From The Bottom, Drake returned to his blog, which you can find at http://www.octobersveryown.blogspot.com, to post the music video for the new single! In the video, Drake shows how he goes from a soccer-playing child to a store clerk to partying in mansions with barely clothed girls. The video features cameos from the people that have been in Drake’s life since he was that soccer-playing child. The video is below; let us know what you think!

February 10th isn’t only the day that Drake released the Started From The Bottom music video though. The OVO artist won his first Grammy last night for “Best Rap Album” for 2011’s multi-platinum album Take Care. From everyone at Weknowthedj, congratulations Drake on your first Grammy win! While on the Grammy red carpet last night, Drake confirmed to Ryan Seacrest that his third album is on it’s way and it’s titled Nothing Was The Same. The album is expected to drop in Summer 2013 so definitely look out for that.

Drizzy is ready to progress on this journey and he wants to do it with the people that have been since the start, also writing on the blog “It felt right to come back to the site that I started on and release it to the people that started here with me. Judging by this post, the tour that we’ve been planning, the conversations about new songs and album artwork…I think it’s safe to say we’re back together again. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.” We can’t wait to see you soon, Drizzy.
