The bond between Andy Pop and Weknowthedj started as a simple up-and-coming artist preview four months ago. Over the past four months, the bond has grown stronger and it’s officially time for another Weknowthedj exclusive update on Andy Pop! The twenty-two year old New York native has been hard at work; he’s been doing everything he can to further his music career. His latest project is a music video for the song Doubt Me, off his album No Choice. Before we get to that video though, let’s rewind a bit and take a look back on the journey that Andy took.

Andy started off Thanksgiving break by teasing his fans with a Behind The Scenes look at the shooting of the music video for Doubt Me. This mini-webisode titled What’s Poppin’ was exactly what was needed to get fans hyped! He got the true superstar treatment for this video’s prep. Hey AP, that makeup looks great on you! He also gives a preview of what was to be expected once the video finally hit his YouTube channel on January 23, 2013. Check out the behind the scenes of Doubt Me below!

A little more than a week after posting the webisode of What’s Poppin’, Andy returned to his YouTube channel to give his fans another surprise. The thing about Andy is that he’s one of the most impatient people in the world and doesn’t like to wait before putting out new music. So how could he put out new music and keep his name on everyone’s mind without releasing too much? A quick freestyle video of course! Pop raps about beats that don’t sleep and his dreams meeting up with fate. The effects in the video are also sick, perfectly describing the title, Purple Freestyle.  When Andy first started exploring his musical talents about five years ago, I started asking when I was finally going to get a shoutout in a song. Well, Purple Freestyle was released on November 29, 2012, which also happened to be my 18th birthday and the day that I finally got my own shoutout in an Andy Pop song! Thanks again, AP!

While I’m almost positive that American poet Henry David Thoreau wasn’t listening to the types of music that happen to be Andy Pop’s specialty, I do know that the philosopher was a man of wise words. While trying to find a quote to describe Andy’s motivation and dedication, one of Thoreau’s stood out to me, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.” Andy’s most recent project is an official music video for his song, Doubt Me. Thoreau’s quote stood out the most because one line in the chorus of Doubt Me is, “I hope you don’t mistake my confidence as bein’ cocky.” The music video is right below, so be sure to check that out, especially if you want to see what a look into the weekend lifestyle of this senior at SUNY Purchase. I don’t want to give away too much, but the video includes black lights, a lot of lasers, white t-shirts and a lot of dancing. To make the video even more personal, everyone in it is a friend of the New York native. The music video was amazingly directed by one of Andy’s friends, Quentin Vidal. Although Andy says he prefers it if you doubt him, I don’t think anyone is going to doubt him after seeing this video. Great job boys, your hard work paid off!

The past few months have been extremely busy for the twenty-two year old but he’s not showing any signs of stopping. I have good news for all you Andy Pop fans; new music is coming soon, actually a lot sooner than you would think! A few weeks ago, I got to sit down with Andy and have a nice lunch from our favorite hometown deli. The whole afternoon was a much-needed time to bond with an old friend and I was also treated to embarrassing stories from his mom and ridiculously cute stories about his nephew Landon. That was also the afternoon that I got a preview of the new music and what’s to come from the up-and-coming artist. I promise you that none of it disappoints! The few songs that I heard are definitely Andy’s most personal songs yet. While he’s opening up and sharing his feelings, he’s also making music that is extremely relatable. Keep your ears open for his newest stuff because you definitely aren’t going to want to miss it! You can keep up with Andy Pop on all of his social media accounts. His website is www.andypopmusic.com, where his album No Choice is available for download. His twitter is www.twitter.com/andyp0p. His Facebook page is www.facebook.com/andypopmusic.  His YouTube channel site is www.youtube.com/andypopmusic.
