12/12/12 Concert Brings Musical Legends Together For Benefit

December 13, 2012

Close to two billion people tuned in to watch some of music’s biggest superstars come together for a benefit concert hosted tonight at Madison Square Garden.

From The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi to Alicia Keys and Kanye West, singing icons performed to raise money, helping fix the damage that Hurricane Sandy did to the east coast. The concert was broadcasted live and commercial free in the US on 34 channels and was also live streamed via 121212concert.com and on YouTube.

In addition to the performances, tons of celebrities were backstage answering phone calls. How awesome would it be calling to make a donation and getting an answer from someone like Whoopi Goldberg or Ben Stiller!? Guest appearances were made by Jon Stewart, Kristen Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and many others who spoke of damage and encouraged viewers to donate. Adam Sandler even got up on stage and made the classic “Hallelujah” song into a “Sandy Screw Ya” ballad.

There were so many awesome, once in a lifetime sets that took over the garden, even better was that it is all for a great cause. The artists playing took over twitter trends, as well as the 121212Concert hashtag. Now if you’re wondering what’s going on with all the money, it will be going to the Robin Hood Foundation.

More than $30 million has been raised so far just by ticket sales alone! Robin Hood’s relief fund has provided $14 million in grants to more than 100 different groups since the tragic event. One hundred percent of the money given tonight will go straight to the relief fund.  1-855-465-HELP or donate online https://donate.121212concert.org/ Remember that anything helps! Hope can never be washed away.
