Punk Goes Pop 5 Features Alternative Versions of Popular Tunes Including “Boyfriend”

November 6, 2012

How would the Biebs feel about a screamo version of one of his most popular songs?

The fifth volume of Punk Goes Pop was released yesterday and is now climbing its way to the top of the iTunes top albums chart, currently ranked at number four.  The alternative album features singers Craig Owens (of Chiodos), The Maine, Forever the Sickest Kids, Memphis May Fire, and nine other bands.  The first series of the albums came out from Fearless Records in 2002. There have been other versions including Pop Goes Acoustic, Pop Goes Classic Rock and Pop Goes Metal. The album stays true to its consistency of keeping super heavy songs, as well as fun songs by lighter rock bands. It does feature some solid covers of songs that were originally done by artists from Carly Rae Jepsen to Coldplay to Michael Jackson.  The album can be bought from iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/punk-goes-pop-5/id56834198.
