Social networks have been abuzz lately with discussions about the recently announced 3D concert documentary that British boy band One Direction is set to release. The news has thrilled Directioners across the globe, as it means an opportunity of epic proportions to view their favorite pop heart-throb up-close and personal on the silver screen. Though plans for the film are just beginning to form, it’s been confirmed that Super Size Me documentary great Morgan Spurlock will direct it – which guarantees that fans are in for a real treat.

The boys sat down with MTV News recently to discuss the latest happenings in their lives, including updates on the 3D film.

“Morgan works well because he did a lot of documentary movies, and that’s more so what we want our movie to be,” Niall Horan explained, clarifying that though the film will feature concert footage, it will focus more on the “documentary side than the concert side.” In choosing to create the film in this way, the boys intend to allow fans to truly see their personalities. “The fans know us, but we want them to know us deeper.” Niall added.

“It’s going to be amazing for us to look on in like, however many years and just be like, ‘This is when I was a lad’.” Louis Tomlinson stated, implying that the band hopes to capture a nostalgic essence in the film. Liam Payne added on to this, joking, “When we left home to do X Factor our parents were like ‘Make sure you take loads of pictures,’ but now we’ve got a film to do that for us so we can be lazy.”

It was later revealed that the band has already started filming for the movie. “When we were touring America in the summer, we had a camera with us every day and we were just kind of documenting stuff.” Niall explained, adding, “The cameras have started to come on the road with us more.”

Liam then went on to reveal that Niall has a camera and has been asked to film segments to be used in part of the movie! With Niall as one of the crew members, chances are we’ll be seeing exclusive footage that wouldn’t be captured otherwise – and it can’t get much better than that.

The film is set to release on August 30th, 2013. Keep checking WeKnowtheDJ for the latest updates on our favorite Brit babes’ latest project!
