Country’s Music’s Biggest Night: The CMA Awards

November 2, 2012

The 46th Annual Country Music Association Awards aired live on abc last night, and with performances by Keith Urban, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Brantley Gilbert, and Taylor Swift the show was full of entertainment and surprises. Fourth year hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood made a great pair, who was comfortable and funny the time, unlike some other award shows that pair hosts together that just look awkward. They definitely reminded all the viewers that country stars have great poise and style! Both of them looked dazzling, especially Underwood, who changed her dress more than five times throughout the show. Taylor Swift’s relationship, or rather break up with Connor Kennedy was one subject for opening monologue jokes, but the camera unfortunately never showed Swift’s reaction. Later in the show when she performed “Begin Again,” the crowd gave a standing ovation. There were many amazing points in the show, but my favorite was definitely when cutie Hunter Hayes won New Artist of the Year, his reaction was priceless. Although there were appearances made by almost every name in country music, spouses Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert definitely owned the night, winning a third of the awards. Entertainer of the Year went to Shelton, Song of the Year, “Over You,” to Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, Female Vocalist of the Year went to Lambert, and although I was rooting for Luke Bryan, Shelton also snatched up the Male Vocalist of the Year Award. Some other big awards went to Toby Keith for Music Video of the Year for Red Solo Cup, and to Eric Church for Album of the Year. Check out some of the other highlights below and comment on your thoughts! What was your favorite moment?
