If Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” had a perfect purpose, its listeners found it in the final moments of Breaking Dawn Part II. Although the artist released the song in October 2011, she came out with a revamped version featuring vocals from fellow singer Steve Kazee, star of Broadway’s Once, for the last part of the Twilight Saga. As her song plays, the movie lovingly shows the story of Edward and Bella. But, let’s not forget that Perri is one of the main factors in this song fitting so well to the screenplay.

The singer has a genuine voice that can be easily identified off any track. You probably remember her very popular “Jar of Hearts” single from a few years back, as well as “Arms,” which ended the season one finale of Awkward.

Perri has kept busy opening up for Jason Mraz on his North American Tour and recently released a Christmas EP, A Very Merry Perri Christmas, which include some really cute originals like “Something About December,” as well as some classics, like the beautiful “Ave Maria,” which she of course sounds great covering. She is set to release a new album sometime next year, the title is still unknown, but it should feature some great songs. Perri proved on Lovestrong that she is a very talented writer, so we have a lot to look forward to! Check out the new version of “A Thousand Years” below and let us know what you think. Which version do you prefer?
