During the search of finding the next person with The X-Factor, judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, and L.A. Reid brought in a little expert help. Marc Anthony joined Simon Cowell, Britney Spears was joined by will.i.am, Demi Lovato brought in Nick Jonas, and Justin Bieber joined L.A. Reid. Quite a mix of some of the world’s biggest pop stars if you ask me.

On October 11th, 2012, Justin Bieber’s episode on The X-Factor premiered at 8PM Eastern Time. In charge of judging the ‘Over 25s’ group, Bieber and L.A. Reid, along with Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, carefully watched and listened as the contestants gave it their all.

First up was Jason Brock, 35, with his rendition of Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry. “He didn’t hold back at all,” said Bieber about Jason’s performance, “I think that he gave it everything and that showed. But it’s not only about that.”

Next to perform was 26-year-old David Correy with his version of Domino by Jesse J. L.A. Reid, Braun, and Bieber all were impressed by the performance, but L.A. Reid questioned his viability in the marketplace.

Singing his take of “She’s Gone” by Hall & Oates was 37-year-old Daryl Black. Scooter Braun showed much interest in his performance, stating afterwards, “He’s got a special voice. With a band behind him, it could work.” However, L.A. Reid disagreed, not finding “his voice tone to be unique.”

Tate Stevens, 37, was up next singing his version of Brian McKnight’s “Back At One”. Following his performance, Bieber stated, “I think he’s charismatic and I think he has a great voice,” but was not sure if he would give him the check of five million dollars.

40-year-old Vino Alan sung his rendition of Pink’s “Sober” in a very unique way. “I felt it. Emotionally, I felt it,” praised Bieber. On the other hand, L.A. wondered if the full package was within Vino Alan.

Last but not least in the ‘Over 25s’ category was Tara Simon, 27. She strongly sung “The Reason Is You” by Hoobastank. Although she came through forcefully with her performance, the judges advised that she should tone it down, with Bieber quoting, “She’s got a big voice, but she should make sure to have those more sweet moments with her voice.”

Towards the end of Bieber’s segment, they deliberated on whom to keep and send home. The difficulty of the decision was seen clearly through the clips.

Tune into The X-Factor next week on Wednesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 18th to find out who made it to the live show!
