Lil Wayne Drops New Mixtape: Dedication 4

September 6, 2012

Lil Wayne and new music… what could sound better than that? Oh I know… the music of course!

Rapper, Lil Wayne’s “Dedication 4” mixtape was released on September 3rd, 2012 which has been highly anticipated by his fans for a while now. The mixtape consists of fifteen tracks with many extremely talented featured artists. The featured artists on the album include Birdman, Detail, Nicki Minaj, Boo, Lil Mouse, Young Jeezy, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, J Cole and Flo. With undeniable talent like that, I don’t even need to listen to the mixtape to know it’s good!

The track list happens to be very unique due to the different collaborations. The song “Mercy” by Kanye West is remixed with Nicki Minaj on D4. With Nicki’s quirky personality and Wayne’s chilled exterior, this song is very different but all in all a great track.

“Green Ranger” is the tenth track on the mixtape featuring J Cole. The track sounds like a freestyle with straight hard rap. After J Cole’s part, Wayne comes in talking saying how he doesn’t like the beat of the song so he’s only going to “spit a few verses” which makes the song seem like it was put together very fast, almost like a freestyle. With a fun background beat, it takes away from the edge of the song just slightly; but you are still getting the full effect of the lyrics when listening.

Lil Wayne has tweeted about the mixtape for a while getting all his followers and fans very anxious. He tweeted “Dedikation 4 komin next month” back in July as well as retweeting many fans until the mixtape dropped. He tweeted on August 31st saying, “D4 is stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid.” which got fans even more pumped than they already were.

When Wayne puts out new music, it’s never a disappointment. I hope you’re enjoying it just as much as I am!
