The Infection Spreads: One Direction Set to Release New Album in November 2012

August 28, 2012

Good news, Directioners! A freshly-charged British Invasion is heading your way – complete with brand new serenades and a set of five familiar voices with extreme heart-melting capabilities. As recently announced, British-Irish boy band One Direction is all set to release their sophomore studio album!

When the five-part dream team released their debut album Up All Night in the UK last November, they certainly weren’t expecting the tremendous success that it achieved; success so huge that the chart-topping record was released in the United States a week earlier than planned, simply because of fan demand. Nonetheless, the dreamy quintet of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik were given the chance to experience just that, before becoming international sensations practically overnight.

And they’re just getting started.

As the band’s success has continued to spread infectiously since, the five members have remained hard at work – heading straight into the studios following the conclusion of their Up All Night international concert tour. Early in the morning on August 23rd, legions of Directioners across the globe were greeted with news to whet their musical appetites when a video from the boys was posted online announcing a brand new single. The track, titled “Live While We’re Young”, is set to release October 1st, but is now available for pre-sale on iTunes. Tweets from Harry Styles and Niall Horan reveal that a music video has already been filmed for the single, likely to be released around the same time.

In further excitement, the fivesome announced that “Live While We’re Young” is taken from their sophomore album – the exact album they have been so hard at work on for the past few months. Yet to be titled, the record is scheduled to release sometime in November and will feature songs penned by the boys themselves. According to Payne, the new album is even better than the last, with contributions from the likes of Ed Sheeran and McFly lead singer Tom Fletcher. Though still three months from scheduled release, One Direction’s sophomore album is already shaping to be a follow-up that fans will not want to miss. Stay tuned for further updates on both the single and the album as they release, and don’t forget to catch One Direction on the MTV VMAs September 6th! Along with hitting the stage for a performance, the heart-throb will be vying for the coveted moonman in two categories: Best Pop Video and Best New Artist.
