This past weekend the Summer MixTape Fest touched down in Hershey, PA where thousands of fans came out to see their favorite artists. The line-up consisted of 16 acts including New Kids On The Block, LL Cool J, Carolina Liar, Steel Panther, Back Street Boys, Kelly Clarkson, The Wanted, 98 Degrees, The Dan Band, The Fray, Carly Rae Jepsen, Aaron Carter, The Ready Set, DJ Fly, DJ Cheap Shot and DJ Pauly D.

Although this was the first time the festival took place, I think it’s safe to say it will be a recurring show each summer. It was a two-day event at the Hershey Park Stadium, with two stages set up on the north and south ends of the floor. An artist performed on one stage and immediately after, the other stage went up in lights as the next performance began. Fans would flock back and forth to each stage to catch a glimpse of each performance; with a line up so strong, they didn’t want to miss a beat!

Tickets to this two-day event, held on August 17th & 18th were set up much differently than most. The tickets ranged from $45-$750 depending on what you wanted to see and do. The cheaper tickets were general admission, single day passes, which meant you could go for one of the two days or a combined price to attend both show days. Since the second day had a better lineup, the tickets were $20 more. I know you are probably wondering why a single ticket could be $750, well the package was well worth the price. Although there were two different VIP packages, the “Side A VIP” ticket was much better. It included a two-day ticket with access to the front of the line for every event, as well as all parties and activities. The package also included VIP entrance to all after parties as well as a meet & greet with New Kids On The Block and Back Street Boys and much more!

On the first night of the festival, the crowd was eager than ever to get started. DJ Fly opened the festival alongside DJ Cheap Shot with Aaron Carter performing shortly after. Steel Panther, Carolina Liar, The Fray and DJ Pauly D gave the crowd amazing performances which had them screaming for more. At around 8:45 PM, New Kids On The Block took the stage and performed oldies including, “Step By Step”, “One Song” and of course, “Summertime”. Immediately after, Kelly Clarkson took the stage for the last performance of the night, singing “Breakaway”, “I Forgive You, and “Don’t You Wanna Stay” featuring Joey McIntyre, as well as a cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”. With an amazing first night coming to an end, these outstanding performances set the bar high, making the fans crave the second day even more than they did the first.

With day two kicking off, people came ready as ever for the second half of the show. At 5:00 PM, The Dan Band took the stage for 30 minutes until The Ready Set came out and performed until 6:00 PM. Without any delay, The Wanted came on performing flawlessly…like always. The British-Irish heart-throbs performed numerous songs including the famous single, “Glad You Came.” However, the famous single turned into a duet when The Wanted was joined on stage by NKOTB.

As soon as The Wanted finished, Carly Rae Jepsen took the stage around 6:40 PM. Jepsen came on performing some of her best songs including the ever popular “Call Me Maybe”. LL Cool J was next up singing a few of his many tracks including, “Mama Said Knock You Out” and “Going Back To Cali”. After LL Cool J performed, 98 Degrees took the stage for the first time in over a decade. Their performance was 45 minutes of pure excitement which kept the audience in complete shock. The boy band sang a mash-up of “The Hardest Thing” and “Invincible Man” as well as performing “I Do” and “Heat It Up”. As the festival seemed to be coming to a close, NKOTBSB (New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys) took the stage for two whole hours! The two most highly anticipated bands of the festival came out and gave the performance of a lifetime performing three of their many favorites, “Larger Than Life”, “Please Don’t Go Girl” and “Don’t Turn Out The Lights”.

The next day, the festival held a softball game including the members of New Kids On The Block! The baseball game was only open to VIP ticket holders and took place at the Harrisburg Senators Baseball Club from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM in Harrisburg, PA.

Seeing that this year’s festival was such a hit, there’s not a doubt in my mind that it will be a recurring show! Would you attend next year? Who would you like to see perform?
