The end of summer means one thing: the start of football season! While the spiraling pigskin and oversized players are a rather important part of the game; musical performances play a huge role in overall entertainment.

No Doubt, Mariah Carey and Cee Lo Green are all ready to help Americans get ready for football season! Mariah Carey and No Doubt are scheduled to perform in New York City at Rockefeller Plaza on September 5th for a pre-game special. The show airs live at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC, the day before the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys kick off the season at MetLife Stadium. Cee Lo Green has written a song called “I Love Football” which was recorded to the melody of the Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop” and will air during the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football. Cee Lo won’t be the only one performing though; the fans are getting involved as well! Fans can submit videos of themselves singing the tune and the network will air 90-second clips of the fan-made videos every week.

Pepsi and the NFL are also teaming up to bring more music entertainment to fans all over the country. The two franchises have announced the launch of the Pepsi NFL Anthems program, a national campaign that will feature some of today’s artists, NFL teams and players. Kid Rock, Kelly Clarkson, Ice Cube and Travie McCoy are creating original anthems, and a remixed version of Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Black and Yellow’ will also be featured. The anthems are inspired by the artists’ passion for the game, their cities, and their hometown NFL teams. Kelly Clarkson has already released a Dallas-themed anthem ‘Get Up (A Cowboys Anthem).’ Travie McCoy’s New York Giants anthem, ‘All In,’ can be downloaded using a redemption code found in select cases of Pepsi, and come September 3rd the ‘All In‘ Anthem will be available for free download on www.PepsiAnthems.com. Ice Cube will have an anthem for the Oakland Raiders and Kid Rock will have one for the Detroit Lions.

Tom Kaplan, the Director of Pepsi Sports Marketing said, “The Pepsi NFL Anthems program will help bring the NFL’s passionate fan base closer to their teams through an authentic musical experience—whether it’s listening to the anthem on your way to the game, or hearing it blast throughout the stadium after a big play.” The songs will debut weekly and be available for download at www.PepsiAnthems.com until February 28, 2013. Fans can also visit www.PepsiAnthems.com between August 13th and September 24th for a chance to win a trip to the 2013 Super Bowl!

Kaplan said it best, “The synergy of music and sports has never been more prevalent, and the effect that music has on sports culture is never more present than in the NFL.” Make sure you support your favorite musicians and your favorite team and Happy Football Season!
