Fall TV Preview

August 30, 2012

The transition from summer to fall is not just about going back to school, the leaves changing colors, or the “Pretty Little Liars” summer finale (I’m still in shock from #thebetrAyal).  It’s also about the return of your favorite television show and the premiere of some new ones.  From reality to drama and from science fiction to comedy, here are some of the most anticipated shows of the fall season:

The X-Factor: After last season, Simon Cowell shook up his judging panel by dropping Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and by adding new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.  It is rumored that the breakdowns of categories have changed from boys, girls, over 30s, and groups to 12-16 year olds, 17 to 24 year olds, ages 25 and over, and then groups. It’s also rumored that Nick Jonas will be helping pal Demi Lovato as a mentor and Justin Bieber will be helping LA Reid. No word on who is mentoring with Britney Spears or Simon Cowell yet. “The X-Factor” season premiere airs Wednesday, September 12 on Fox.

The Vampire Diaries: When season 3 ended, Elena was in transition to become a vampire. Now that she is immortal, you can bet her love triangle is imperishable also. Which hottie will prevail with Elena’s new development? Will it be Team Damon or Team Stefan? “The Vampire Diaries” returns Thursday, October 11 on the CW.

Animal Practice: The show stars Justin Kirk (Uncle Andy from Weeds) as Dr. George Coleman, an animal loving veterinarian who hates most of his animals’ owners; and the adorable yet very smart monkey from “The Hangover 2.” The first episode is available to download for free on iTunes and the show premieres Wednesday, September 26 on NBC.

Revenge: The first season of “Revenge” ended with Victoria possibly dead and her daughter, Charlotte, taking enough pills to OD. When Conrad found Charlotte, it wasn’t looking too bright. It also ended with a phone call that may or may not reveal that Emily’s mother is alive. “Revenge” moves to Sunday nights this season and premieres September 30 on ABC.

The Mindy Project: “The Mindy Project” is another new show premiering this fall that stars Mindy Kaling (Kelly from “The Office”) as an OB/GYN who must try to juggle her successful professional life with a not so successful personal life. “The Mindy Project” is written and produced by Kaling, and judging by her character from “The Office,” it’s bound to be hysterical.  “The Mindy Project” premieres Tuesday, September 25 on Fox.

And while some shows are just beginning. A few shows that we love will be coming to an end this season. “Gossip Girl,” “Fringe,” “30 Rock,” and “The Office” will all be airing their final season this year so make sure to tune in to those shows.
