Upcoming Artist: Matt Toka

June 11, 2012

It looks like Scooter Braun has brought a new sound to the table. 22-year-old Matt Toka has recently been added to Scooter Braun’s management.

Matt’s music is total opposite from what Justin Bieber, or Cody Simpson would release. Matt is considered to be in the Rock genre. He grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and always had a passion for music. Like all of us, Matt also had a band in his life that he looked up to, which was Greenday. He kept up with part time jobs during school, but he knew he would make it somewhere with his music. He isn’t afraid about speaking out on the struggles and obstacles he went through during his life because that is what made him pick up a guitar, and start to live for music.

He joined many bands with his friends and tried his hardest just to get himself noticed so he could move out of Ohio. The band was called Cherry Monroe. Matt did everything he could, and he never passed up an opportunity to give someone his CD. Finally, he thought all his work paid off when the band got signed with Universal Records. The band never took the career opportunity seriously, which led to them being dropped by the record label, just a year later.

Producer of Greenday and My Chemical Romance, Rob Cavallo, agreed to produce Matt’s first album, with the help of Scooter Braun in the management department.
